Welcome to my Blog
👤 Personal Introduction
Hi, I'm Raul Ruiz Ramirez. A web developer with more than 10 years of experience, living in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico. My main stack is Next.js, TypeScript and Node.js. In my free time I enjoy admiring nature, discovering new technologies, watching movies, playing video games, and reading, even though my to-read list never stops growing.
This site is my space on the internet: part portfolio, part technical journal, and also a bit of creative exploration.
Why a Blog?
Why not? Haha, kidding. There are several reasons I decided to build this blog:
- Explore web technologies.
- Have a place to express my thoughts.
- Portfolio
- Creative expression
- Learning log
1. Exploring web technologies
I want my personal site to represent the stack I work with. I want to keep learning technologies and put them to the test here.
For example, to build this blog I use MDX files, which I'm very comfortable
writing and formatting with.
The files are compiled by @next/mdx, and the metadata is stored in a
separate JSON file.
I chose this approach because the posts are statically generated at build time, so I don't need an external database or third-party service to store them.
2. A place to express my thoughts
Generally, outside of work, I'm quite reserved — I don't share my opinion unless it's really needed or I'm asked. That said, I like sharing information and the knowledge I've picked up at work over the years, through courses, and from reading.
I don't like sharing much on social media, except memes or causes I think deserve more visibility. I want to use this space to keep a record of what I think, and if someone ever reads it and finds it useful, that would make me very happy.
3. Portfolio
I usually share my personal site on my résumé or business card, in case someone wants to get to know me better and has the chance to check out my portfolio and read this blog.
4. Creative expression
I have a lot of ideas in my head. I'm not a writer, but I feel the need to express myself. Putting my ideas into words helps me clear my mind.
5. Learning log
I have several books I've read and want to retain what I learned from them. And what better way to do that than by sharing it?
✍️ What will I write about?
I don't want to box myself into a single type of content, but here's an idea of what you'll find here:
-
Technical posts: Things I learn at work or in personal projects. If something was hard for me to understand, I'll probably write about it so I don't forget (and maybe it helps someone else too).
-
Book reviews: I have a habit of reading and a vice for underlining. I want to capture here what I take away from each book.
-
Personal reflections: Thoughts on technology, learning, the industry, or whatever's on my mind.
-
Personal projects: When I build something interesting, I'll document it here: the process, the mistakes, and what I learned.
I don't promise a strict publishing schedule. I do promise that when I do write something, it'll be worth reading.
🎯 Who is this for?
I mainly write for myself, to organize my thoughts and keep a record of what I'm learning. But if you had to put a label on the ideal reader, it would be someone like myself a few years ago:
- A developer who's just starting out and wants to see how others solve problems.
- Someone experienced who enjoys sharing and comparing perspectives.
- A curious person who, even outside the tech world, wants to understand how this stuff works.
- Someone curious about how technology can be used to create art.
You don't need to know how to code to read here. Some posts will be technical, others less so. I'll always try to keep things clear.
👋 See you soon
If you made it this far, thank you.
This blog is an experiment: I don't know exactly where it's headed, but I'm excited to find out. If anything I write turns out to be useful, interesting, or simply raises a question for you, I'd love to hear about it.
You can find me on LinkedIn, GitHub, and Bluesky. I'm always up for a conversation.
